In the heart of the New City community in Chicago, the UHSC Food Pantry Program stands as a beacon of hope and support for approximately 200 families. Week after week, we strive to alleviate food insecurity and nourish the souls of our community members. With unwavering dedication, our team distributes an impressive 7,500-9,000 pounds of food to approximately 1,000 Chicagoans, not just once, but four times a month.
Since its inception in November 2008, our food pantry has been a pillar of strength, registered and certified by the esteemed State of Illinois. We take pride in our commitment to providing quality assistance to those in need, adhering to the highest standards of operation and safety.
Yet, we recognize that the success of our Food Pantry Program extends beyond the tireless efforts of our team. It is the collective power of community volunteers that truly makes a difference. We are immensely grateful for the selfless individuals who dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to support us in various capacities. From assisting in food transit and packaging to ensuring smooth distribution, our volunteer workers are the backbone of this program.
But it doesn't stop there. Our Food Pantry Program thrives through the generosity and kindness of financial donations. The support we receive from our community, both individuals and businesses, enables us to purchase essential food supplies and sustain our operations. Every contribution, big or small, makes a tangible impact in the lives of those who rely on our pantry for sustenance.
